EMILY STEWART
I was always the child to create the largest messes. At sleepover parties, I would suggest we rearrange all of the furniture. I asked for sewing lessons for Christmas and art lessons for birthdays. I played my bassoon far too loud in my bedroom. Most of my childhood memories were centered around my love of art, music and writing; all of the wonderful, creative things that keep our world personal and connected.
As I grew up, I thought my academics should too. I studied Accountancy and even worked in corporate America after college. Funny, right? During covid, I worked remotely and battled depression. I began painting again. My social media turned into a fabulous feed of artists, designers, landscapes and architects alike. I became obsessed and inspired. I read about their backgrounds, styles and careers. I didn't know what I was going to do, but I knew I wasn't going to keep sitting at my cubicle. I resigned, moved across the state and started over.
Over the past several years, I have pursued my passions relentlessly. I have gone back to school to study Interior Design at the New York School of Interior Design and work as a designer in the day time. I still make time for my passion of painting, and I am so excited to finally share my artwork with the public.
I am fascinated by color. I enjoy seeing the way artwork moves people and influences their lives. I want to encourage others to live more imaginatively. I want to inspire them to pursue their passion. My artwork is a mix of styles. I focus on the use of color, texture and experiment with mediums and applications. I draw inspiration from so many things but the first that come to mind are nature, textiles and travel.
If I am not working on design or painting, I am going to be found renovating our 1940's Craftsman bungalow with my sweetheart Ryan or taking our rescues Martha & Frannie to Jekyll Island.
Thank you for being here and being part of my creative journey.
